World Trade Month Spotlights Importance of Global Trade in New York City
World trade plays a vital role in the global economy and has numerous benefits and importance in New York City and NY State. this year's celebration. This year's annual celebration was hosted by the Greater New York Chamber and the Orthodox Chamber of Commerce in the beautiful Surrogate’s Court on Chambers Street. Both organizations are part of the World Trade Week NYC Committee.
WTW NYC is comprised of more than 70 organizations in the New York metro region working together to facilitate the importance of international trade. Speaking on the importance of international trade this years’ panel keynotes were Molly Bauer, Director of External Affairs, Empire State Development; Carmela Mamas, Director of U.S. Commercial Service of New York; Dilip Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner NYC Mayors Office for International Affairs; Tena Vel T. Thomas, Port Authority Director of NY/Newark US Customs & Border Control and Richard Foy, Regional Director at Export Import Bank of the United States.
The annual Lucio Caputo Statesman Award was presented to Tony Danza. This year’s Global Citizen Award went to Daniel Bates of ClearSeas Project. In addition. there were many MOU and international partnership agreements signed with the Republic of Korea, Provincial Government of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce USA, trading Partner TACCI, AMCham BiH.
